Thylander Data Centers is developing Denmark’s first domestically owned hyperscale data center platform — a milestone for Danish data sovereignty in a market currently dominated by international operators.
With the flagship facility in Esbjerg as the first project, targeting a capacity of up to 200 megawatts across multiple phases, the platform has a broader pipeline of developments across Denmark in its sights. The centers are purpose-built for high-performance AI compute — housing the GPUs and TPUs that power the training and deployment of advanced AI models — rather than conventional storage or cloud infrastructure.
Denmark offers a compelling backdrop for this ambition: abundant green energy, low-latency fiber networks, and geopolitical stability — all under Danish ownership and operation. The platform is managed by Anders Frich Mathiesen, Chairman of the Danish Data Center Industry, with more than ten years of experience developing and operating data centers across Nordic and European markets.
Weco holds investments in both the Esbjerg data center project and in the Thylander Data Centers management company, and is represented on the board of directors.
